Dolphin 1 Lifebuoys Ensure Safety at 2023 Macao International Dragon Boat Races



Macao, China - The highly anticipated 2023 Macao International Dragon Boat Races took place on June 17th, 18th, and 22nd at the Nam Van Lake Nautical Centre in Macao. As one of the organizers, the China-Macau Dragon Boat Association (CMDB), ensured the safety and smooth running of the event by utilizing multiple Dolphin 1 Water Rescue Devices for emergency preparedness.



This year’s races marked the first edition since the event was suspended in 2020 due to the pandemic. Teams and spectators from various countries and regions worldwide, including China’s Mainland, Hong Kong, Macao, Thailand, Singapore, Myanmar, and more, gathered at the venue, creating a vibrant and enthusiastic atmosphere. The races, held in different categories, unfolded with great excitement and passion.


The event took place on Nam Van Lake, the largest artificial lake in Macao, covering approximately 151,000 square meters with a water depth of around 3.5 meters. Given the occurrence of frequent summer rainstorms in the region during the event, the organizers prioritized water safety measures for both participants and spectators. In light of this, they opted to utilize the Dolphin 1 Remote-controlled Lifebuoys. These devices, operated remotely by lifeguards, can travel on the water surface at speeds of up to 3.3 meters per second, swiftly approaching individuals in distress and bringing them back to shore. Compared to manned boats, the Dolphin 1's compact and agile design allows it to navigate seamlessly among the racing boats, minimizing disruptions to the ongoing races while effectively carrying out rescue missions.



By leveraging the advanced capabilities of the Dolphin 1 Lifebuoys, the CMDB demonstrated its commitment to ensuring a safe and successful event. The intelligent water rescue devices provided an extra layer of security, allowing for prompt and efficient responses in case of any water-related incidents throughout the races.
